Movement Matters

Your body was made to move! Not as punishment, but as a way to feel alive, strong, and connected.

Why Your Body Needs Movement

Movement isn't just exercise; it's a vital language your brain and body share. Research shows that regular movement helps you:

  • Maintain physical strength and muscle mass
  • Improve balance and coordination to prevent falls
  • Rewire your nervous system with purposeful tasks
  • Regulate your mood and increase resilience
  • Boost cognitive function and memory
  • Increase overall energy and vitality

The Six Core Principles

At The Grounded we focus on the six core principles that directly support those returning to movement:

  • Breath - Help you regulate your nervous system and increase awareness
  • Concentration - Engaging and mindful movement
  • Control - Build safety and consistency
  • Centering - Strengthen deep core support, physically and emotionally
  • Precision - Focus on quality over quantity
  • Flow - Create coordinated and satisfying movement
"This is not a workout built on punishment or perfection. It's a practice of reconnection, one that respects where you are now and builds from there."

Try Pilates Breathing at Home!

Studies show Pilates breathing relaxes you, improves lung function, core muscle support, and muscular efficiency. It can improve your physical performance, focus, circulation, and even lower your risk for cardiovascular disease.

  1. Lie flat on your back with your hands on your rib cage, close your eyes
  2. Inhale deeply through your nose, feel your rib cage expand as your hands move away from one another
  3. Purse your lips and exhale through your mouth; feel your ribcage come back together
  4. Keep monitoring your breath! Are you able to do this without moving your chest or abdomen?
